An exceptional vintage celebrates the energy of a broad and vigorous Champagne
The property
Dom Pérignon champagne owes its name to the famous monk and prosecutor of the Hautvillers abbey in 1668, Pierre Pérignon known as Dom Pérignon, who, according to legend, created the first champagne in history. It will be Pierre Pérignon himself, in 1669, who will transmit the technique to the Benedictine Thierry Ruinart. Thus, in 1729, Ruinart becomes the first Champagne house. Since 1 January 2019, Vincent Chaperon has succeeded Richard Geoffroy as Chef de Caves of Dom Pérignon.
The wine
Dom Pérignon exists only as a vintage. Dom Pérignon Vintage champagne is obtained from an extremely rigorous selection of the best grapes. The estate decides whether or not to declare the vintage based on its quality. Dom Pérignon Vintage champagne will be ready to reveal all its harmony after more than 8 years of processing and resting in the cellar.
The vintage
2010 was the year with the lowest temperatures since 1996, with a freezing winter and spring. The summer was hot and dry until mid-August, with two days of heavy rain. Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010 balances a vintage full of contrasts, thus recalling the 1995 vintage.
Assembly
This cuvée is obtained from a secret blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir .
Tasting
Nose
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010 presents an intense aromatic bouquet characterized by notes of tropical fruit, with notes of mango, melon and pineapple. Citrus notes then appear that evoke mandarin and orange peel. The aeration reveals all the personality of the wine, with floral notes of peony and lilac.
Mouth
On the palate, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010 appears broad and mellow, filling the mouth with a tactile touch. Precise and generous, the champagne tightens on the finish, which reveals spicy and peppery aromas and culminates in salty and persistent notes.
